With Les Mieure, KG member, sociologist and amateur collector of modern Jewish art.
Theme: Rupture and Reconciliation
Theological aesthetics examines the connections between religious narrative and sensory experience, such as contemporary art. Judaism offers a tremendous and challenging range of content to explore. But what of the aesthetics that inform the content: the outward appearance, the beauty, the art?
Join us for one hour of contemporary Jewish Biblical art. We will look at paintings and illustrations created by some of the best late 20th and 21st century Jewish artists including Michal Baratz Koren, Brian Shapiro, and Elke Reva Sudin, and share our thoughts about how their work affects us and why.
If you have relevant images of artwork by late 20th and early 21st Jewish artists that you would like to contribute to our virtual exposition, please contact [email protected].
